Naag Panchami is a traditional worship of snakes observed by Hindus. It is observed on the fifth day of bright half of Lunar month of Shrawan. We have our own myths and legends surrounding Naag’s which lead us to a large scale. Naag Panchami carries special importance in our society.
Pasting the pictures of Naag above the doors of their homes to keep off the evil spirits is a major activity performed in this festival. We worship the Naag by offering milk and fruits. This year Naag Panchami is celebrated on 20 Shrawan, Monday.
In our school, we had a small ritual related to Naag Panchami to make children aware of the festivals of Nepal. All the students were excited and observed the whole process. They were curios and also enjoyed the learning process.
