Martyrs’ Day

We can proudly say, read and hear that Nepal is a sovereign and independent country who never had to become slave of any authority. The pride that we take on reading, hearing or saying such was not easy. It was written with the blood of thousands  of Nepalese whom we now respect as Martyrs who not only sacrificed their families and home but their life too for the sake of country. Magh 11 – Magh 16 is considered as Martyrs’ week however the 16th of Magh is majorly known as Martyrs’ day. The autocratic Regime left the countrymen with anger and revolted which resulted in protest of such autocratic kings. The then Rana kings, ordered the people to be murdered, hung or killed whoever protested. Many leaders, citizens and innocent people were killed  for a democratic kingdom, among ,them were Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Shukra Raj Shastri, Gangalal Shrestah and Dasarath Chand were known to many. The martyrs day is observed to pay tribute to all the known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country.
